North Berwick

Living in Edinburgh with out a car, North Berwick is our go to beach and a family favourite. It’s a quick walk up the hill to Waverley and a 30 min trip on the train.

The facilities when you get to the town are great , charity shops, an art shop, wool shop and fab food and coffee.

The beaches are fab too. The sea front is divided into two by a small harbour and The Scottish Sea bird centre. The North beach stretches out in front of the golf course

When the tide is out I love how the sandy beach becomes like a mirror

The South beach has ice cream vans and a large rock to clamber on.

There are great views of Bass rock , with its lighthouse. You can catch a boat trip to see the bird sanctuary on good days – but you still need oil skins and a life
